Remove the vent screw also, it should be almost directly above the drain screw. That will help drain faster. Also leave the vent screw out while you refill. When lube starts to come out of the vent screw, you will know it's full. Replace it first and then the fill screw last.
The rubber o-rings on the screws should be replaced when changing fluid.

i had to fill through the vent screw, i added 32 ouces/1 liter and it wouldnt take anymore, but fluid was not milky but was raher black(dont think the previous owner did much maitinace, but i removed teh carbs and looked ate the reed vavlves and they are all fine nothing broken nothing not flat. but new plugs in it so hopefully once i get the carb done she will be ready to go. alot of work its taken to get it to this point lol, rewire whole engine, rewire from ignition switch back so again i hope this baby runs smooth:)
ONE last question, since i have the carb off can i spray anything in the clyinders to help remove the carbon built up? without reomving the head?

JTL,
32oz fluid sounds about right.
The reason for filling at the bottom/fill hole is to let any air be expelled through the top/vent hole so there are no air pockets. You can purchase an inexpensive pump that screws into the bottom hole. It makes changing oil so much easier. After it sits a while, I would take the top screw out and top off the oil from there since you've already filled it.
As far as removing carbon, I've read that some boaters use "sea foam". I have never used it so I cannot recommend it but, you might want to try it. You can get it from auto parts stores or a marine dealer.
Hope she runs good for you after all the work you've done. Good Luck!
