Johnson V4 85 (1985) trim/tilt problem

I have the above engine, but the TT is set high and I cannot adjust it. When i press the down button i hear a click but no action!! the seals on the hydraulic unit have all been replaced and there is fluid in the system. am i REALLY gonna have to get the engine off to get at the motor? AGAIN!! any tips would be enormously useful<br /><br />marvinius

if the tilt motor doesn't actually run you may have a bad relay or a bad switch in the handle. <br />I had a similar problem, the motor would not raise, but would go down. It turned out to be the switch in the shift handle was toast.<br /><br />Don't know if that is what you have going on but....if it is just clicking, I would guess maybe the relay.
