Johnson water pump 1987 Johnson 40 hp vro

Should water be coming out of the two slots on the exhaust housing on the back of the motor when it is running. Water comes out of the pee hole. Does this motor have a thrmostat and if so, Where?

dirthog,<br /><br />Yes, you will get a spray out of those "exhaust relief holes". It may turn to a stream while underway.<br /><br />The thermostat is located on the cylinder head under a circular shaped cover.

Thanks Djohns I found the thermostat, but no spray out of the slots. Probably means a waterpump. According to this manual doesnt sound that hard to change.
