1983 Johnson Model J8RTCA --- 7.5 hp

How is the drive shaft and gear shaft disconnected to remove the lower case ?

Remove the bolts holding on the lower on and I think it will drop down.
The drive shaft is splined into the powerhead and I think the shift shaft slips into a D shaped housing.

Thanks for the info.
The parts illustration I found on the internet shows a splined shaft.
I will try to dis-assemble it over the weekend.
