johnson water pump replacement

I started the motor the other day after sitting for approx 3 yrs. There is no water coming out, so I dropped the lower unit to change impeller. After taking water pump apart, I noticed that the pump housing has several small knicks and scratches and one small pinhole in the bottom that goes all the way through. Do I need to replace the entire pump unit or just the impeller? Want to do it right the first time because I do not want to have to drop lower unit again. Thanks for any help.<br />Dustin

If you want to do it right then get a water pump "kit"

YES, lest you wanna have future troubles, this wear will (if not already has) affected the dynamics of the pump operation, replace both. Every chance, unless that impellor looks perfect! replace it, while you have the unit off! About every 100 hours use. My book, refers to an optional chrome water pump, for use when water contains high concentrations of salt, or silt.
