My 1997 Johnson 130 HP runs at 4200 RPM will heat up to 140 temp no higher and run all day. Is that to hot the manual says operating temp is 120. What should I do? Water is new,new Tstats, diaphragms new,new plastic cups.

My '98 Johnny 150HPV6 Service manual calls for operating temp to be 140*F +/1 15*F. Sounds like you are perfect.

Re: Johnson

Has it always been like that? My 1998 130 runs 140 at 1500 rpm's and less than 120 at 2500 rpm's on up to 5500rpm's. 140 at 4500 seems a bit high, you may have a bum thermostat. But I don't think 140 at any rpm will harm the engine, just my 2 cents.
