Hi, I am wanting to build a deck/fishing platform on my 14' long x 36" wide bottom jon boat. Does anyone know where I can get plans to do this, or have a link to a website? Thanks

Brent

Re: jon boat deck

Hi Brent,

Try www.Hydrillagorilla.com this gus has a complete set of plans to turn your jon boat to bass boat.

I have a 1436 grumman with a aluminum flipping deck that I installed. I bolted aluminum angle stock through the hull behind the front seat of the boat ( above the water line) and then bolted diamond plate aluminum to the angle stock. It makes a nice sturdy platform that wont rot away. I also made a bracket for my AP36 minkota with the same aluminum angle stock. The boat fishes great.

Good Luck,

Tight Lines and Solid Hooksets :D

Hi, thanks for the reply. Do you have any pictures of your boat that you could send me? My boat is very wide at the beam, and seems to be very stable. The bottom is 36" wide. DO you think a deck on the front with a 7" pedestal and seat will affect the stability? Thanks

Brent

Re: jon boat deck

I dont have any pics right now ill see what i can get. My boat is a 36" bottom and it is fairly stable. I have a pedestal and seat on mine, although most of the time I am standing on the deck. I do a lot of shollow water bass fishing (pitching and flipping) as if there was much deep water in east arkansas. Just make sure your in the center of the boat if you like to set the hook hard, its not a bassboat it will rock. Its a great setup for the ox-bo lakes in the area. Im sure Mississippi has its share of these lakes.

Light Lines and Solid Hooksets :D
bKelly

Re: jon boat deck

Hey brent this a 1436 older duracraft that I built a castdeck on. Its not as pretty as bkelly's rig is going to be, but I bet it was cheaper. Its 3/4" treated plywood with outdoor carpet glued to it. You cant see in pic but there is 1" emt conduit bent at 45, and screwed to open end of deck then to the floor for support. I am 6'2" and weigh 230, this setup has supported me for a couple years now. Also rigged a way to mound my 55lbd transom mount trolling motor. This rig wont win a beuty contest, but it works for me, and was relatively cheap. Good Luck, and show us some pics of finished product.

Craig
Columbia, SC
