my 14' jon boat leaks from the rivets i presume... i used some boat sealer stuff from walmart on the fron parts of the boat and seems to have worked... but there is still a pretty constant leek that just gets to be annoying because i have to keep using the bilge to empty it out... is there some specific type of sealant and technique i should use that is compatible with aluminum...

from what i gather from some of the websites, i should flip the boat over, clean it off, cover entire boat with sealant, then let cure then paint... and this would stop all leaks???

and where you buy the sealant would help me too...

thanks in advance for any help you can give.

i did that yahoo search and nothing that is relevant to sealant comes up... just junior exec stuff and stock info sites, and a bunch more stuff...
is there something more specific i could search for?

DO NOT use glove it or epoxy to coat the entire boat. Right now I'm going through taking off the epoxy that the guy before me coated the entire hull with. Cabelas has a product that's applied with heat that bonds very well with the metal. I would look into that. Just put it onto the rivets. Or you could always re rivet the whole thing.

If you have access to both sides of the rivet, get a buddy to help, a case of adult beverage, and buck all of them tight again (at least those on the bottom). It will take about 15 minutes of reading to learn how to buck rivets.
