I have a freshly rebuilt 96 fast strike 150 with about 20 hrs on it carbs rebuilt and It has been running like a champ but today I went fishing and lauched and she ran good to three or four fishing holes then when it was time to go I went back to the ramp and when I got to the beach it very slowly started to wynd down then it died. wouldnt start after that. I primed it and that didnt work so I lifed the idle lever and finally started but it sputterd then died when lever was put down. did this about 20 times and It would smoke when it was sputtering. this motor normaly fired right up by just barely turning the key. thanks

Do a compression check on this motor. Sounds like it got hot

I have a good stream of water and I felt the heads and I could hold my hand there for 3 or 4 seconds. I didnt get an overheat alarm. also I havent changed the spark plugs at all and was wondering what fouled spark plugs would make this engine do. My plugs have been oily even well after breakin with extra oil.

A single cylinder/piston can heat up and your alarm system will never know about it. The alarm sensers are on the outside of the heads which is about the coolest place on the back half of the powerhead. Do a comnpression test and if that checks OK then check for spark on all cylinders then try some new plugs. What plugs are you using anyway.

champion QL78YC still the same ones the dealer put in after rebuild. I dropped the boat off to him and he seemed to think I had a carb/fuel problem. What would cause just a single cylinder to overheat? I would imagine that a comp.test will first on his list. Its still under his warranty so Im not to nervous but fall is the best bass fishing around here and I dont want to miss it.
