My Evinrude 115 has a transom mount tag, model no.J115tlc1m serial no. j5502645. This is not a match to the motor. The motor is drab green{rude} the mount is white {jonny}. This mount fits ok but wont let the motor drop down straight. The boat just shoots straight up under low throttle. Checked for a "WELCH" plug to try and get motor numbers but still cant find it. Motor runs great, just need to get it down so I'm not looking at the sky. Found a salvage that said they have a mount to fit every year 115 just need help to pick the right one.

You need to take a close look and see what exactly is holding the motor up.

Take a look at the bottom of your motor mounting bracket.

Their is a pin that goes across that the motor latches onto. Set the pin in the second hole out from stern.

Good luck!

If you have power tilt and trim you can take that pin stop pin out of the transom bracket. The motor will be resting on the trim rams until you are at full down trim anyway. "Smart Tabs" or a hydrofoil will also help with the excessive bow rise until you get on plane. I removed my pin and installed a foil and it solved my problem with bow rise.

Dave

Re: jonny-rude 115

I removed the tilt and trim unit. The transom mount is not for this Evinrude. From where the tab hangs down over the front of the transom to where it turns down 90 degrees is about 3inches it look like it needs to be 5 in. The motor hits the mount and wont go down. If anyone has a 115 rude about 1980 and could post a pic or e-mail me one around this year I might be able to figure out what year it is. dzman@pennswoods.net
