I am wondering how to jump start a boat with dual batteries. Do I hook up the cables to just one battery and turn the switch to the same battery. Do I hook up to the one battery and leave the switch on both. Or do I hook up to a positive on one battery and a negative on the other battery. 12 volt system. Two batteries run in parallel. Any help would be much appriciated.

See the BOTH setting on the switch? Set it there. The batteries are now combined. Or switch to BAT 2 and start the engine. No jumper cables needed. The only problem with this would be if the switch iw wired incorrectly where BAT 2 is wired to the switch with anything less than battery cable size wire.
