jump starting outboards

Hey guys, question.. After reviewing a bunch of posts What is the best way to jump start an outboard? I've seen a couple of different ways..<br />could it cause any problems when you do this? <br />Thanks All!

i used to jump start mine all the time. even let the truck sit and run so the battery would charge up.as far as problems i cant i dont think it will hurt anything.

Depending on what motor you are trying to start, it could cause problems...<br />Especially on motors with switchboxes.... You connect live jumper cables to a battery that is hooked up to your motor and you could fry a switchbox real easy... <br /><br />This is also the case, if you connect battery charger leads to the battery with the charger already turned on....<br />I've heard of it happening...
