jumper start omc cobra 5.0?

I currently do not have the key hooked up on an omc cobra 5.0 and would like to start it up to test the engine/outdrive. How do I hard wire jumper the starter? thanks.

Does this sound right?

Jump a positive jumper wire from the positive battery terminal over to the SMALL slave solenoid terminal that has the small yellow/red wire attached to it. This is the "primary" side of the solenoid which should activate the solenoid and connect the two larger terminals together to supply voltage to the starter.

jumper from the + battery to the + side of the coil. jump the 2 large lugs on the slave

where the spark comes from, usually 2 wires going to it. one marked + ,the other -

I'm sorry, but if you don't know what a coil is, then you really shouldn't be hot wiring and jumping anything.
Find a qualified mechanic before you hurt someone or blow up your boat.
