Re powered my boat and now I need to demo my original OB (1991 Johnson) on dry land with ear muffs. Everything has been disconnected.. wire harness, controls, etc. I'm able to turn her over by connected a battery to the starter but I'm net getting any spark. I'm thinking I need to disable something in the electronics, I.E. lanyard switch, etc.. Any advise would be appreciated.
Forgot to mention I hooked up a fuel source.
Thanks in advanced

ezeke,
THX for your reply.
Other than disabling my kill sw. Any other electronics needed to be hooked up or disabled? Any advise on stopping the motor? Just listed it locally and I'm sure someone will want to see it run.

Re: jumping a 1991 225 Looper

Hate to keep putting this post at the top of the forum. Hopeing someone can help. My 91 225 looper has been totally disconected from my transome. All wire harnesses, guages, key switch. etc. have been disconected. I'm attempting to jump the moter (on ear muffs) and cant seem to get any spark. (Want to demo for a sale) This motor worked perfectly befor it was taken off the transome. I disconected the yellow and black wire (kill switch) still no change. I'm confident that this is something electrical that needs to be disabled or connected. Motor turns over (running a wire from starter to battery) but no spark. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advaced.

Once you unplug the red cannon plug there is nothing killing the ignition. It's a magneto type ignition, it doesn't require power to feed anything it only stops by grounding out tru the ignition switch or lanyard. Once the red cannon plug is disconnected you've eliminated those "kill" circuits. With the harness disconnected there's nothing stopping the motor from generating spark when it turns over but you'll have to flood it to shut it off, as mentioned.

Are you sure it has no spark or just assuming? How did you prime it?

i hope you have it mount on something very well. there is a lot of torque there. jump the starter you should have spark. will have flood with the manual lever on primer to stop.

My thinking of why I dont have spark: I pulled the spark plug connector with spark plug plyers. Cant see any firewhen I move the connector close to the plug. It's mounted on a very sturdy homade study horse. Still not sure why this motor wont fire???

I'd use a spark checker with the plugs in and then out.

Again, how are you priming the motor?

Sorry forgot to mention, I'm priming the motor with a 6 gal. 50:1 gas/oil tank with prime ball.

OK, once you have the system pressurized how are you priming the carbs / intakes?

Re: jumping a 1991 225 Looper

Sorry for the late comeback.... been out of town. I have person coming to look at my motor today and would like to get it running. From previous post it was mentioned that I need to prime it. What's the best way to prime the motor?? Should I buy a can of starter fluid and spray the carbs?

Thanks in advanced

Well it's sold.... without starting it up. I guess if something is priced right it will sell. A little sad to see that looper go.... She never failed me. Hopefully with my six year warranty I wont spend to much time on the Suzuki board.... Let me tell you that Zuke has some serous torch. Thanks to everyone on the Johny / rude board you guys are great.
