Jumpstarting my evinrude???

I tried posting this in Frequently asked questions but I was unable to kept telling me I didn't have privileges for that page, so I was wondering can I jump start my boat batteries with my truck?

You most certainly can, its just like jump starting a car, except that you cannot ground easily on something other than the dead batteries ground (like you can on the cars body) So you must put both cables directly on the battery.

Be certain to disconnect them the moment the outboard fires up.

If you ever have the opportunity to jump start a boat with twins, outboard or I/o. when the second engine fires up it can fry your cars alternator, I would know I melted all the connections on my trucks alternator jumping a chris craft with twin 350's

Thanx i'm looking for a good set of twins but right now I cant seem to find any from the early 60's.
