Jury rigging a sling

I don't want a trailer for various reasons. I'm fine with lugging the boat down to the shoreline and putting it together, unfortunately, the 156 pound motor is too much for me to safely handle so...

I was snooping in the archives and excited to find the sling option. I have a pickup truck cargo net I think I can jury rig. I could use it with a mini crane attached to my 2" receiver.

The game plan would be to park close to the public water access in the parking lot, lay out the cargo net, assemble the SIB on top of it, lower the 156 pound Mercury HP onto the SIB with the mini crane, lift the entire boat/motor off the ground with the mini crane and back it down the ramp.

I think this will work. I'd only have to invest about $200.00 for the mini crane.

I would be worried about things going wrong back there as you back down the ramp with the boat hanging from a sling...... it could work....... but why not get some transom wheels? I too often don't use a trailer and lift a 175 lb motor onto my 14 sib. The transom wheels allow me to easily wheel the whole rig down the ramp or beach into the water! Check out these http://perneborn.se/products.html or http://www.beachmaster.co.nz/ (I have no association with either product but they look like they would be great) or the ones I have http://www.my-inflatable-boat.com/inflatable-launching-wheels.html

Just my 2 cents.
