Just Another Prop Pitch question

Alright so I just purchased a 1997 Chaparral 2330 Sport
I forget what is all required for prop info but here's the deal
It has the Bravo 3 Leg with a 7.4l which i believe is 300hp and a 2.00 gear ratio and...wait for it....28....yes 28 pitch props.
Not too sure what the previous owner of the boat was trying to accomplish but I'm not sure that he achieved it.
So at this point the boat hits about 44mph at 3800rpm which I dont really like at all. Surprisingly it gets up relatively quick (I guess that's the torque of a 454 coming in to play) but anyways I'm pretty sure I should change to a 22 or a 24...just not sure which one I want and also do people ever do things like put a 22 on one and a 24 on the other? Or do they have to be matched?
Any info would be greatly appreciated
thanks
Nate

Why would you want 2 different pitched props?

Every inch pitch you drop should gain you about 200rpms(in theory).

The twin counter rotating props (Bravo 3's) are matched sets. It seems like you need about a 15% increase in RPM to be better matched, so that would be a similar reduction in pitch . . . and it does put you right in between a 24" set and a 22" set. Your choice.
