I have a 22ft proline, 5.7 with alpha1 when it is me and my wife, it jumps up on plane fast and runs about 42 but turns 5100, when i have 3 or 4 fishing buddies, it takes alittle longer to get up, and runs about 38-40, and turns 4800, both at WOT, i have a mercury vengenance 13.5X19 prop. i would really like to pick up some top end, is there anything i can do other than trying to build some more power and then go to 21 or 23, or can i go bigger now???

A 21 should give you "about" 4,700. Would make your hole shot a little weaker
might give you a little more speed. You should stick with same brand and material to keep performance along the norm.

hole shot doesnt really bother me as long as it doesnt take 1/2 a mile to get on plane. the boat weighs around 3500, maybe 4000 fully loaded for a day of fishing

A 23 would put you at "about" 4,300 4,000 with your buddies and a further reduced hole shot.Too low in my opinion.Keep in mind these figures are not carved in stone could vary in either direction. If you can exchange the prop try a 22 if you can find one or a 23.You could have a prop repitched up or down a little, the less the better.Personally I would try the 21 if it turns up too much repitch or stay below the rpm.A 23 probably would struggle with your buddies aboard. Is your present prop in excellent shape?

Go to the propfinder in Iboat, I think you will find that the recommended prop is greater in diameter that what you presently have. Not a lot but it could make the difference in the amount of energy transfered to the water and get you that quicker on plane and lower the rpm both. Perhaps a 4 blade with such a heavy combo would be a good thought.
