Hey all, newbie here. Never had a boat, always wanted one, opportunity knocked, I jumped in feet first. Its a 16 foot 1974 Invader Intruder.
The guy I got it from had just upgraded the motor from a good running 65hp to a 115 Johnson. He couldn't get the motor running, became frustrated with it, and then sold it to me trailer, motor, boat, and an eagle depth finder for $800.
I have not had the boat in the water yet and I am worried about the weight of the 115 on there. The boat is rated for 115 max so it is within spec. Has anyone else had this combo and how did it handle on the water? What kind of speed am I looking at possibly attaining, is it going to be too much motor for this boat?
Primary use will be pleasure boating and tubing with the wife and kids.
