Hi there, thanks for good information on this lovely forum!

I just bought this small speedboat to use on the fjord I live in. It would be interesting for me to know which model and make it is, since I have not literature on it, and don't even know the year of production.

Have you guys got any clue about the name / brand of this hull I bought?

Thank you :)

Well based on all the information............ is there a number embossed into the transom? If it was made in the USA .....it should have a Hull Identification Number (HIN) and that would help.

thanks both of you : )

I'm living in Iceland, and we dont have a registration for boats short of 6 meters. - But do you have any lead on where the HIN might be located? Thanks again :)

As you standing behind the boat .......... it is "normally" embossed on the outer surface of the transom in the upper right or left side but I have never seen one in the middle where the motor would be mounted.

Nice boat

ah, thanks Bob. I'm such I didn't even get the word Transom! - I'll have a decent look at the Transom tomorrow. : )

on another topic, I got the boat with a Johnson 90 V4 outboard, but a broken powerhead, do you reckon it would be efficient for me to replace the powerhead, or should I spend more and get a newer model? - I'm looking at buying a powerhead off ebay for at least 1000$ + shipping, which would set me back at least 2000$ with import taxes.

Depends on the year of the motor. Pre-1983 and I would have to think about it ........ post 1984 and it would be an easier decision. We have a Johnson Evinrude section here on iboats and you might be able to repair it yourself cheaper.

Thanks again Bob. I bought an older model of chrysler (700 skier) to try and bridge the gap between the 'need to use boat now!' period and the repairing of the johnson. I'll take a look at the Evinrude section :)

hehe, thanks for your interest Bubba!

Well, we have a dubious toll system here, but when it comes to outboards and parts, there is no toll for the outboards, and therefore not on outboard parts. On the other hand we have a very strict system of value added tax, which 'happens' to be 25.5%. it truly doesnt sound to bad when I figure the parts I need cost $1.000 but the downside is that the considered 'value' of goods imported is the on-site sale price + all shipping cost.
A spare part for the Johnson from ebay would then set me back around 3000 dollars with the shipping and taxes!

Regarding the problem with my johnson 90: there seems to be a broken (I would not use the word 'cracked') crankcase, a broken piston or two and probably a scratched cyl. - I guess the trouble of finding spare parts separately would be a lot more time / money consuming than just buying the powerhead used?
