I just bought a Sport boat that is in pretty good shape. The previous owner replaced the wood in the late 80's and then it was in storage for the last 10 years besides.

Now lets see if I can attach some photos.............Tom C

I tried to post files linked to flickr. Let's do it this way.

Tom, very nice indeed! Not many of these around in this condition. Do you have any pics of it without the straps? It would be nice to post a pic to the Duratech site minus the straps if we can. Please post the 5 digit serial number, along with the exact model name. You can do that here (I'll date the year of manufacture for you), or you can email to duratech@duratechboats.com

Without the straps? Hmmm we'll have to see. my next few days will be real busy because Earl changed its track a little and if nothing else happens we will get rain for sure. I have half a ton of potatoes in the ground that I'll have to dig and get in the cellar first.

The previous owner blew a patch of that green vinyl off the little foredeck with a pressure washer just before I got there. Too bad he should have left it dirty.

The registration says the hull # is 57356 ................Tom C

Tom, you should locate a small aluminum ID tag attached to the boat. Typically back on the splash well. It is typically 2 1/2 x 4 inches. It will contain the exact model name and 5 digit serial. The 5 digit number you posted can't be the serial number...it's too high. See if you can locate that and let us know.

Great boat.

Well now, I checked the boat and someone must have made a typo. I can just imagine the grief coming now to straighten out one digit at the Registry. Maybe I can leave it alone.

The # is 51356

Do you have a better copy of the sport boat brochure than the one on your sight, because I would love to have a copy.

A Super sport boat was mentioned in one of the posts here and in looking at your brochure the photos on the bottom look like they have a stern drive (I/O) set up. I was wondering if that was the main difference.

Re: Just bought a sportboat

Just do a "Mr. Bean" repair, take a sharpie and turn the 7 into a 1. ;-)

The 51k series serial confirms your Sportboat as a '65...the last year Duratech Mfg. Co. made the boats. The company was then sold off to Penn Yan and your boat was offered with lapstrake hull rather than smooth.

The Sportboat is built on the Orion hull (16'9"), whereas the Super Sportboat was built on the Galaxy hull (18'1"). All of these models were offered with the Mercruiser I/O option.

Your Sportboat is one of the nicest I've seen lately. Good catch. Mind saying what she ran you?
