I just bought my first boat a 60's 15.5 ft glastron closed bow with a mid 60's 50 HP merc outboard. I am wondering what you would suggest I do to the motor for prev maintenence before i take it out for the first time. I am looking for some things i can do myself, however ,i've never even seen the inside of a boat motor (under the cover). Is there any pics/info on the internet on how to do these things? thanks

First and most important Mike get a merc manual and get acquainted with your new friend,Engine. Read as much as you can to understand what is going on underneath that cowling.there are many things to check ,lower unit, oil /fuel mix,start- up procedure etc.good luck with the new toy.
