Just bought used 1992 evinrude 25hp...put muffs on and started, no water spitting out

could that be because the muffs can't produce enough water pressure... i checked the pisshole and nothign coming out... followed line back to block, and the port was not wet either... this has been sitting for 5 years in a garage...and motor in mint condition...started on first pull... i am gonna replace the impeller anyways, but wondering if i am not getting any water coming out becasue the muffs don't provide enough water pressure... or volume...

thoughts...?

If you have the muffs on properly, there should be plenty of water. I would pull the lower unit and check the impeller. If it has been sitting for 5 years, it's time to replace the impeller anyways.

i have changed an impeller on a 15 hp and a 90hp before, never an evinrude... any tricks or things to do... i don't have the manual...

If there's a phillips screw on the side of the lower unit, DON'T take it out. It's for the gear shift ... :facepalm:

You may want to put it in the lake or a big barell and see what happens.
