I've been talking to guy who hops up a FICHT 3.3L and converts them to carb... Stage 1 is just converting to carb, but stage 3 is taking the connecting rods and crank from the old V6 and new pistons, and old V6 heads and a bunch of porting...

I heard that taking a 1993 and newer v6 carbs to the older V6 will net you the ability to adjust the idle air thru mixture screws unlike my current carbs which have a static idle air bleed.

So just curious to hear what other performance enhancements can be done....such as Boysen reeds...

You have the small bore 2.7....best hop up would be to get a 94 up finger ported 3.0 with adjustable idle screws, gets you away from the tea cup intake. You can make the 2.7 a hot rod as its a bridge ported motor but the money spent to hop it up would be better spent updating to newer year.

thanks Faz...

with the 94 + carbed motor...what next?

I think you mentioned the Finger Ported once before on another thread ...what exactly does that mean?..

ditto for Bridge Ported, what does that mean?

Do you know if a 2001-2005 ficht 225 (converted to carb) powerhead will fit on the 1986 midsection?....

Off topic but I have had both motors you mentioned and I have never had more unreliable motors than those 2.Are u sure combining them is a good idea????

Which two are you talking about?

the 1986-1987 225 ?

the 1993+ carbed 225?

the 1999-2000 ficht (which I understand is the 3.0l) 225?

the 2001 + ficht 3.3L 225?

(so that makes 4 engines mentioned)

The ficht wouldn't stay as a DFI engine....it would be converted to carb setup ...and run-premixed...

I was just curious...but appears not worth trying to hot rod my classic engine...LOL

It depends on how they converted the Ficht. I know some guys in Louisiana that do the conversion but its shadetree and runs ok.,but to do it right you could have a regular carbed powerhead.
