Just Cut out the Kill Switch?

I'm replacing the ignition switch and I don't want to maintain the old separate kill switch in the circuit. Can I just cut those two wires coming out of it or would that cause any other problems in the ignition circuit? It just kills the motor right? I don't need anything else killing the motor except for the key! Thanks

I never use it and it may need replacement. I may just replace it but checking my options to 'bypass' it.

Using it can save your life and the life of others.
Not having one can cost you a hefty fine in some states.

I personally know of two men that died when getting run over by the boat they fell out of. One of them had only a 5hp motor. Don't think it can't happen to you.

I do a lot of trolling. Spend probably 60% of a day on the transom checking lines.

Lanyards are useless in this application yet we loose a guy every couple of years out fishing by himself and falls overboard.

Wanted to make sure I was not one of "those" guys.

I'm fortunate enough to live near the Monterey Bay in California. I'm getting a lot more halibut than salmon last few years mainly because it's easier and more relaxing than chasing salmon in open water. And halibut keeps better than salmon vacuum packed in the freezer!

I'm in Seattle and I fish here and the ocean. I catch salmon but I prefer bottom fish. I run after big lingcods.....aka "toads"

Not to disagree, but salmon last longer in the freezer than bottom fish. The oil in the meat makes it last longer. I try to eat up my hali within 3 months of freezing.
