Just for starters... This has to be the wrong prop right?

Hi all... Great site and I've been researching a ton so I know I don't have all the "proper" info for you yet,. That said I am hoping to just confirm I believe my boat came with totally the wrong prop.

? 2007 Maxum 1800SR3
? 4.3L MPI Alpha 1
? Bravo 1 15.23x24 Prop

From day one this boat has taken FOREVER to reach plane while staring at the sky, and naturally it can?t pull a single skier out of deep water that weighs more than 160lbs to well ? and not me at all! Naturally, once on a plane and cruising it goes well and can reach a top speed of nearly 54-55 MPH.

From my research, this 24p Prop just seems SOOOO wrong. Am I finally seeing the light? I see a High Five 22 or 23 in my future immediately.

Thanks!

Hi jimmbo and thanks! My wife is from Edmonton btw! Anyway, it's been a slow start to our summer here in Seattle and I don't have that yet - plan on getting the boat wet tomorrow and will get that more accurate data.

my 18.5 ft sea ray with 4.3l carb came with a 3 blade 23 p prop. I changed out to a 4 blade 21p prop and have been very happy with it. It can pull me (235 lb) out on 2 skis (I dont know how to single ski so have never tried it). I went with the Solaris alum purchased right here on iboats. I also installed SX smart tabs, for porpoising, but that may be helping my hole shot too.

typical casual prop for speed in setups like yours is a 23" pitch, not necessarily good for skiing.
When you get us your numbers;light load, prop size, wot rpm and speed by gps. We can tell better if your setup works and
what may be needed.Your pin the right track reducing p[itch but I feel a high 5 is extreme.
