Re: just got a british seagull

Hi Caldog: Found your post in the Search Engine. I have a 1979 Seagull 5hp with FNR gearshift. I have an owners manual and a shop manual that I got from britishseagull.com - the owner Ron (Canadian) is extremely helpful and he is a good source of parts and info about these not-so-common engines that are fast becoming collectibles. I use my Seagull all the time - it's real slow because these motors were designed to push heavy boats at displacement speeds and are geared low for max thrust. If you post your engine serial # I may be able to give you more information about it. Another good Seagull site is savingoldseagulls.com which has lots of info and history on this really cool little outboard.
