Hi all, I just thought I'd write a little review on our new Tahoe Q4. It is the first new boat we have owned. We picked it up about 3 weeks ago from Bass Pro and took it out for a test drive that weekend. Pven at 1/2 throttle it hit 30utting it in the water was no problem as we have experience with older boats. (hopefully we have most of the beginner mistakes under our belts). Anyhow, it starts right up and runs fine. We drove it down the Chester river about 30 miles and back. We never took it over 1/2 throttle, but even at 1/2 throttle it hit 30 - 32mph easily on the speedo and the gps was about 1 mph slower. Btw, we got the 4.3L 190 hp engine. The only problems we found so far after about 5 hours on the water is the livewell leaks. (we have the fish/ski model). one gauge lite is out. The trolling motor was wired to the battery backwards and thus forward and reverse were switched, but I figured that problem out. They installed a lowrance fishfinder/gps system and mounted the transducer too high. Once on plane it stops reading the bottom. It needs new holes drilled for the bracket because the screws are at the top and it can't be lowered. Anyhow, putting the boat back on the trailer was a breeze and it lined up on the bunks perfect the first try. (hope that wasn't just beginners luck ;). Didn't have to get our feet wet either. It actually seemed to be better on gas than I expected from what I had read, but then again we never had it over 1/2 throttle. It was a bit bumpy on the ride back upriver and we had to slow down a bit going into the chop and wind. Never got a drop of water on us though. The only thing negative I would say so far is that the drivers seat is a bit low and it seems like I am staring right at the top of the windshield when driving. I'm sure we can overcome that though.

It is back at Bass Pro right now getting the repairs done. So far that is the only headache is dealing with the service department. They told me 2 weeks ago to bring it in friday - Iget there and they try to tell me it will be at least 2 more weeks before they can get to it. That didn't go over well with me at all. I said, hell, I could have left it sit in my driveway for 2 weeks in that case, why would I bring it here to sit on your lot? I must have gotten through because now it is suposed to be done by tomorrow. thanks to the new girl they have working in service - she was great. I can't wait to get it back on the water when it is a bit warmer. Well, I hope this review is helpful to someone and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Just got a new 2007 Tahoe Q4

I too recently picked up my 2007 Tahoe. I got the Q7i model (at the urging of my wife). We have had it out on Lake Anna a few times now and it seems to be great. I was a bit nervous about buying a Tahoe, as I had heard many horror stories about the earlier years of Tahoe. I guess they have sorted out what ever issues they had, as mine is near perfect. I will tell you that I did not purchase from Bass Pro, as many do, and this may be the reason I have had such a good experience. When I began looking, I spoke with Bass Pro in Baltimore. They treated me poorly from the get go, and I figured if this is the level of customer service I am getting now, wait till they have my money! I ended up buying from a Tahoe dealer on Lake Anna, VA (Anna Point Boat Sales) and they have been great. When they got the boat from the factory, the tech took it out on the lake and fine tuned the engine idle. He told me that he doesnt see how dealers deliver boats without doing this, as this is always required. The only issue I had with the boat was the LED lights wouldnt shut off after I turned them on. I called Anna Point and they came to my boat house on the lake and fixed it while I was back home. That pretty much seals the deal for me.

My Q7i has the 220 HP V8 (Carb). It has more than enough power, and it gets on plane quickly. The hull (at 21 feet) handled chop well and we never got wet. My wife loves the sunpad on the back, and I enjoy the fact it has 900 coolers on the boat (one of which is portable). I heard these boats are prone to leaks in the bilge and engine area as a result of poor fabrication, but I check mine religiously each time and have never seen any water anywhere.

Just thought Id write a lengthy post since its hard to find info on late model tahoe boats.

Hope this helps a potential buyer.

Hey Irich,

thanks for the info. It was very helpful to me. We plan to buy a bigger boat roughly like what you have now in the next 2-3 years or possibly one of the Tahoe Deck boats which are certainly roomy... we just purchased a 2000 Tahoe Q3 and while I have no complaints at all with the boat I am concerned because it seems that many Tahoe owners seem to know of major issues with older Tahoes. Can you or anyone else expand on that or point me in a direction that I may find out what issues to expect in my new used boat?

I tell ya... an 18ft boat with the 4.3l v6 sure is a lot of fun!! :)

Thanks!

Hi Scoathy,

I just bought the Q7i (2008 Model) and think its a great boat, as of now. I have the 5.0 liter V8 (fuel injected) and have taken it out four times now. It gets up on plane so-so but it does have good top end speed. Like many other Tahoe boat owners, I've found some loose screws and all Tahoe boat owners should check them after each outing. Right now, the boat is in the shop because the trailer that came it had the tongue welded with a left twist. So the bow did not sit in the bow roller straight. The service person said that he's seen them on a lot of Q-boat trailers. You would expect better quality control from Trailstar. Anyway, have you experienced any problems with your boat so far?

Re: Just got a new 2007 Tahoe Q4

Hey Hashi,

In the past week the boat we purchased has transformed into a nice little money pit. On Monday I am taking it to the service center and giving them a list of things I want fixed. The service manager John Gasper at The Tracker Boat Center on Lake Ray Hubbard in Garland Texas has spoke to me twice and is convinced that within one week he and his crew will have my 7 year old boat in tip-top form. I still love the boat but am ready to get it in the water for more than 2-3 hours without finding a problem... I have my fingers crossed. I had taken it to another place that had a great reputation and after 3 weeks of taking it back and forth between weekends decided they were not concerned with fixing my boat so that is that. I feel good about this service manager at Tracker so we will sink a few more bucks in it in time to play on the lake for a few more weekends before it cools off completely... if it ever does that in Dallas Texas...hehehe

Glad you are enjoying your boat Hashi! It sounds like the trailer is an easy fix albeit a pain to have to deal with it. I just ran all new lights on my trailer yesterday. Running them inside the framing was quite a chore but it came out nice. No other trailer issues here...yet...hehehe

Good Luck with the trailer and enjoy the boat man!
