just got my FIRST boat ever!

Well i just got back from arranging for the pickup of my first boat ever. its a 1972 duo 15' tri hull boat with a 85hp evinrude outboard, electric shift, all in good shape. needs a good cleanin and some tidying up (wires, homemade anchors, carpet, etc etc). starts right up and runs great throughout... also came with a nearly new battery, year old 30lb thrust trolling motor, and a fish finder, and a shore trailer... i think i got a deal for $650... whats everyone else's opinion on it?

Good for you! Have fun with it. Spend some time reading on here and you can learn alot. Look up your local Coast Guard Aux. for a safe boating class.

And yes, that sounds like a screaming deal! Be sure she's safe. Ask here for a list of "must check" and "must haves" before you go out. Lots of good knowledge here.

650 is good considering i sold my 1971 duo trihull for 500....and the motor was blown on it.

Good luck with it. The Coast Gaurd Auxillary does courtesey checks of your vessel to make sure that your boat is safe. I would reccomend getting one. This will also insure that you're all legal with the Coast Gaurd too.

What a steal providing she is sea worthy. You may want to look into the maintenance of the motor. When was the last time the water pump and thermostat were changed?

Both orgs do an outstanding job at teaching the how-to’s, boating safety, and the rules and regs...even stuff about towing your boat.
