last night i put the motor on my 17.5 ft 1983 thundercraft, and the transom made a little creaking noise when the weight was all the way on initially, however when the motor is started or if i shake it or anything of that nature when it moves the transom makes no noise and is very sturdy. the motor i put on is a 100hp 71' evinrude which was bored out and supposedly makes 115 said the previous owner.the boat itself is rated for up to a 115hp motor. just wondering if that creak noise was anything detrimental to the boat. and i dont wanna go out on the lake and open it up a bit and have the motor rip off. just a little paranoia:confused:

you can either stand on the a/v plate on the motor, or tilt the motor up, and lock it. then shake heck out of it up and down, and watch the transom for any flexing. it should be solid and not flex.
