Hi all,

I was camping in an Arkansas park when I found this...
3.jpg
It's 95 model 20' with 50 hp Johnson for $2000.00, but without the trailer (I had to borrow that to get it home. I've been wanting a pontoon boat so I can relax when the kids are on the jet skis and this fit my budget. The only thing is I can't find any info if Grumman made a good pontoon boat. I know boats suck $$$ from you, but I don't want to start off with a lemon. Anyone have any history with Grumman pontoons?

Grumman made O.K pontoon boats, the only downside is that plywood floor might rot away. Looks like a great deal to me, Does the outboard run? How are the cushions and carpet?
Nice find.

Here are some shots of the inside. I checked out the floor underneath and it still looks new. The motor runs good. Its also came with a fish finder and trolling motor.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, but where does Grumman rate on the pontoon boat ladder? All I can find on them is that it looks like Lowe bought them out a few years ago.

It would seem the most important rating would be yours. It looks like you are ready for the water. Run it, enjoy it. If you can't run it or don't enjoy it, get rid of it. :)

Charles

I don't know much about their pontoon boats but Grumman made some decent canoes and a whole bunch of aluminum airplanes of various kinds. They do know a thing or two about building stuff out of aluminum, that is for certain.

Grumman made good stuff. Used to be Long Island's biggest employer. Built tough fighters for the Navy and many vets owe their return from war to Leroy Grumman & Co., otherwise known as "The Iron Works" during WW II.

WOW, looks like a great buy on a pontoon boat, especially if the decking, carpet and upholstery are in good condition.
I just bought a Lowe 220 deckboat for 3 times that amount but it came with a tandem trailer with hydrolic brakes.
When I was shopping for the deck/pontoon boat, Grumman had good reviews from the people I talked to.

TPD211

Here's another one of Grummans boats. It looks fairly strong as well....

Hey guys,

I haven't been on in a while and was surprised and encouraged by all of your posts regarding my boat. Russ mentioned keeping the floor dry. What do you do? Use a wet/dry vac when you get done?

Invest in a good canvas for it, or just cover it with a cheapo poly tarp. That would keep the rain off and keep the sun from baking the vinyl. If that motor works, you could easily double your money or more if you decide to sell it. Grumman made a good product. Better than most, not as good as some.
