Have hovered on this site for months and decided to sign up. My current rig is a 1995 Webbcraft (not Wellcraft)2150 Cobra bowrider with a 57lxi TBI 4bbl mercruiser coupled to a Gen 2 Alpha that I bought in '96. The Alpha is swinging a 21p Mirage prop and can the high 50's and occasional 60+. The boat has a '96 motor in it that had zero hours when I got it. Captains Choice exhaust and hydraulic trim tabs. Named New Attitude, she rides on a tandem axle trailer and is towed by my 1975, Dodge W200 4x4 w/manual transmission and a warmed over 360 4bbl, that I bought new in '76. Before the Webbcraft, I had a Mark Twain, 17ft V-Sonic bowrider with a Merc 898 and Alpha. I loved that little boat. With re-geared drive, chine walking was the norm at speed. What started this insanity was my first boat. 1963 Glastron closed bow with '67 Johnson 100 outboard. "Deluxe" Johnson, it had electric choke:) Had real cable steering, I mean cables and pulleys tied to the motor. The Johnson was a pain in the butt and pretty much swore me off of outboards (clamp ons:). The Twain was about as trouble free as they get. 305 chev motor, 2bbl. In the 11 years I owned it I rebuilt the carb once and just did the normal maintenance. Converted it to Thunderbolt ignition. I did a few years year as a marine tech at a couple of Sea Ray dealers which didn't help the boating madness. Because of that, I do 99.9% of my own work. Right now the Webbcraft is giving me some fueling problems but I am on track to cure those. On the pavement side, besides my truck that does see off-road use, I ride a 1980 XS1100 Yamaha that I have had around 30 years. I guess I have a thing for dinosaurs:). (my wifes Mazda is a '02, pretty new as far as I'm concerned.) I lurked on other boating sites and this one seemed to have the best atmosphere and knowledge base that was willing to help anyone, despite how silly there question might be. I only hope I might be able to help someone with problem. We all were newbies at one point!!!

Welcome aboard! There are many members here that share your passions. I had a 1979 XS1100 Special new back in the day, very cool bike, could lift the front wheel all the while spinning the back tire, awesome. Sounds like you will be quite the contributor as you peruse all the "opportunities" here :)
