Just wondering.. Is a 4 stroke WOT the same as a 2 stroke?

It seems like my 150's at 5800 are screaming. Do the equivalent 4 strokes run that fast? If so that's a lot of hardware spinning....

Thanks,
Richard

Actually two and four strokes are pretty close to each other. The Suzuki on my pontoon runs at 5850 WOT. 5500 - 6000 is not uncommon on either a two or four stroke. The two stroke sounds "a little more busy" because it is making power on every revolution of the engine while the four stroke is making power on only every other revolution.

Re: Just wondering.. Is a 4 stroke WOT the same as a 2 stroke?

i have rigged a bunch of suzukis from DF70 to DF225 and we prop them at 6000 rpm
rev limiter is set at 6200.

so whats the question?

are they different ?

every motor no matter what engine it is has its specified wot desingned to run at high rpm.

would i run my motor at wot all day long ?

i wouldnt do it with a four stroke or with a 2 stroke.

if you are into speed or racing thats a other game.

general you prop the motors out so you dont lug them. so you spare the engine.
in racing world all bets are off long life of the motor isnt the game its to be the fastest.

i do not know if there are 4 stroke race outboards.
