Well, I've been reading through the forums here for a few years now and I finally registered (it's the first time I haven't found answers to my questions through a search!) anyway, here goes my inaugural post - First a bit of background:

I recently acquired a 1978 Sea King 9HP (Clinton K900) with the understanding that it's a bit on the rarer side in terms of finding parts. The shaft would just spin freely, so i took the gearcase cover off to find that the clutch dog is in about 5 pieces and the shift assembly is torn up pretty bad (though may be reconditioned to a usable state). I haven't taken the whole lower unit off yet or pulled the shaft, but i see a piece that is lodged between either the forward or reverse gear and the housing.

Through pouring over the forums I've found posts as far back as 2005 stating that Clinton Parts doesn't have the parts (though hopefully they return my call to confirm) and I haven't been so lucky to come across anything viable on ebay or CL.

Now the questions!

I'm wondering if anyone here happens to know any more about the gear case on the K900 and if it (or at least the dog) was used on any other motor.

Also, I'm looking for any places in the SE MI that have a lot of old outboards or know a lot about them (and not just OMCs and Mercs). I'm aware of a couple of places to call around, though I don't expect to find much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
