The rod snapped, the crank pushed the broken con rod thru the cam and into the oil galley. It was a 140 mercruiser. I am trying to locate a 140 shortblock but have only found 120 and v6. Can other engines be substituted. The boat is a 19 foot seaswirl with a 140 mercruiser. <br /><br />What will work? will the outdrive handle larger engine? What about the exhaust?

I don't know all the details, but a 4.3 should be pretty easy. The drive is the same except for the ratio and that can be compensated for with a prop change.<br /><br />If my 5.0 went bang, it would be a mild 6.2 within a week.
