Keel Guard Question?

I recently purchased a used boat and took off the old keel guard because it was torn and ripped. Is there something that will help remove the adhesive residue that is left behind? I do not want to scrape it off for fear of scratching the finish, and I do not want to put a new keel guard over the old residue. Thanks for any advice!!

Goof Off will do that very nicely, Rayski.

What ever you end up using go back over it with the acetone before sticking the new Keel Guard on.Some of the Goo Gone type cleaners are kind of oily.

lacquer thinner will probably work well it doesn'[t evaporate away like acetone. but then wipe down with acetone before applying the new keel guard

If you have enough patience, rubbing alcohol can work, but it takes a lot of re-applying since it dries so fast.
