When waxing my boat I found some chips on the keel. THey dont look too deep butthey ae through to the fiberglass mesh

I read a bunch of posts but I thought I would post a picture and open it up to suggestions.

What type of product should I use?
Any particular brand?

I will probably have to order it, local marinas dont carry much.

I thought I posted this but I wnet back and could not find it, I appologixe if it is a duplicate.

Re: Keel pics

The picture isn't in good focus, it's hard to see the extent of the damage. If the damage is just down to the gelcoat, you can fix it with Marine Tex epoxy, or with a gel coat repair kit. If the glass strands have been broken- you'll see white spots or streaks where they fracture- then you'll have to grind down into the glass to remove the broken strands, then replace them with a couple of layers of glass. You can use epoxy or polyester for that more extensive repair. There are a lot of threads on how people have done this- do a search to find them.

Re: Keel pics

Just to add, once you have fixed it with either fiberglass, or gelcoat, look at a keel protector (keel shield, keel guard) to cover up the job and prevent it from happening agian.
