Re: keel repair
It's not hard to do small fiberglass repairs like that. Just look through prior posts, and you'll find lots of step-by-step instructions.
First, though, I'd make sure that your hull's crack or hole is the result of an underwater collision with a rock or stump - instead of the result of a rotten floor and stringers, which can easily make your boat's hull flex while underway, causing cracks.
It's kind of like the question of what came first, the chicken or the egg? If the crack has been there for awhile, chances are that your floor and stringers are waterlogged, even rotted.
But you can replace a floor and stringers for lots less than the cost of another boat, and you can make your hull stronger than it was when brand new. You can do it at home with some basic tools, some plywood, mat, roving, and resin. It's not rocket science, it's woodworking 101.
If your floor and transom are waterlogged or rotten, it's almost certain that your transom needs replacement too.
