Is there a way to tighten the engine so when trolling it won't start to turn by it self. I have a 6hp Evinrude manual start 1965 era.

most small motors have a tension bolt where the motor pivots.Sometimes it is a band that tightens or a bolt with a nylon button under it to apply the tension.
If all else fails maybe a simple loop of rope to the handle just to stop it from turning as you troll. Most turn in only one direction anyway.

I know smaller motors of years back had that screw. Don't know if the 60 is "too big" for it or not.

What about a couple of bungie cords hooked around cleats or tansom eye bolts and connected to the lift handle in the front? If it doesn't have a lift handle it will have a bracket that would otherwise connect to remote steering. Use that.

Mark
