I have a Chris Craft 30 Crowne - twin ford OMC Cobras

The starter will stay engaged even when the key is turned back to off.

I replaced the ingition switch and it continues to do the same thing.

It will quit when I turn off the batteries and won't do it again until I turn the key to engage the starter.

It also might be a short in the starter solenoid itself. If you're 100% positive that the new key switch is not the culprit then look there. This is probably a very shade tree mechanic thing but try tapping it with a hammer ( tap, not beat) while it's turning. Just a thought.

I had the same problem with mine when the battery was note fully charged. I went ahead and replaced the slave solinoid and cleaned all of the wire connections from the battery to the soliniod, but having a fully charged battery seemed to make the difference.
