He has a style that reaches into your gut. No voice, but truly great style.

I really wanted Barbara Padilla to win, but Kevin deserves it.

She is so good that, vegas would be beneath her talent, She can sing anywhere she wants In USA or England, The world is her oyster and she is way better than singing in Vegas. Kevin is Home grown with his singing. She is truly gifted and can reach into their hearts too.

He was my favourite right from the start. Down to earth guy, very humble.

I liked him too. I won't pay "Vegas show prices" to see him though. But "Peoria, Illinois Civic Center prices", yes! :)

I would pay Vegas money for Recycled Percussion. Especially if they opened for Blue Man Group (which seems perfectly logical to me!).

Re: Kevin Skinner won.

True talent and success in the music business often have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

That said, sometimes there is talent that goes beyond a singing voice and instrumental skill. Bob Dylan is a good example. He never had a voice and was a very limited guitar player, yet he became a huge act. To me, the reason why is twofold - he wrote lyrics that people liked and he came on the scene during the "hippie era" and his style had a lot of appeal to that audience.

In regard to Barbara Padilla, here's a quote from youtube, offered by someone who posted there. I think there is a lot of truth in it, generally speaking. Whether or not Kevin Skinner is forgotten in a year or so, remains to be seen.

"I am not surprised Kevin won; years ago I was teaching at an American university and Yo Yo Ma was the performer in the university's concert series. Thinking it'll be a full hall, I bought my tickets right away. On the day of the performance the hall was less than 1/3 full! Everyone was baffled... so where was everyone else? At the local stadium listening to Willie Nelson!! Barbara did not lose tonight... wait and see how her career will pick up. Kevin will be forgotten in a year or so."

Re: Kevin Skinner won.

Jay, your post goes right to the heart of the matter.

Skinner got to me the first time I caught him a few weeks back. I actually think that is when he won it.

Padilla is truly amazing and this is her comeback tour more or less, she will be picked up in that line of work I am sure.

The Beamon guy, not sure what happened, it is almost like he laid down or threw it on purpose or his voice went out.

Stevyns came on strong, we really liked him.

My money was on Recycled Percussion though, I thought they had hit a vein that could take them all the way.

And clogging? Those gals were just crazy good and fun to watch.

Most of the top 10 were good performers that can get gigs at lower levels and grow slowly from there in my opinion.

p.s. I thought the Texas Tenor with the fuller beard was so much better than the other two, hard for me to list to all of them at once. I think him and Padilla need to pull out a duet Aria from some opera and put out a single!

i wanted Grandma Lee also, she is also from here. Recycled Percussion, i could see doing one heck of a Vegas Show. Barbara can write her own ticket now.

Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne, don't have voices either.

Re: Kevin Skinner won.

Kevin is a down to earth "home town" guy that the majority can relate to.
Shame they can't do a variety show in vegas with a few of the top competitors from the show.

Exactly, not to many of them can do a whole show, but a combination of them would be a great show in my opinion also!
