Key Shocks Me

I have a 72 Evinrude 100HP that won't run. It was turning over and getting spark to the plugs. I have cleaned out fuel tank & put in all new fuel, put in new spark plugs and checked fuel filter. Now when I tried it last night there was just a click and a hum and the key shocked me. Did I mess something up?<br /><br />Thanks for any help you can give.

I would check all wires to and from control to motor. Sounds like a broken or frayed wire is sorting out somewhere. If you don't have a manual, get one. It will help enormously and be worth every cent.
