key switch wiring diagram?

I just installed my key switch into the center console. I took pictures of the wiring but have to assume I did somthing wrong. the motor starts runs primes etc but will not shut off. I have to pull the fuel line to make it stop.

So if anyone has a color code diagram for a 1987 50hp Johnson VRO it would be fantastic.

did you get the right key switch? on I/O's, the key switch provides power to the ignition to make it run. on outboards, it grounds out the ignition to make it stop.

This is an outboard. It was working before I installed the switch into the console so I believe I connected the a wire incorrectly. The switch came with the motor used from another boat.

I believe my key switch has gone bad. everything is connected correctly.

Test it before replacing it.
You will find a remote control circuit at maxrules website which shows how switch should be wired and what it does.
