I know that you have heard this a thousand times, but I Need help with my wiring. I do have a manual but I have seen too many diagrams.

I have a 92 Force 150 with an in-dash keyswitch and mechanical merc side controls with no electrics. It has an overheat warning switch, trim switch and emergency stop switch.
Gauges are- volt, trim, tach, speedo.
The trim gauge is not connected yet and has 2 sets of cables exiting it, 1 set has ? Black, Pink, Orange, Light Green. 2 set has 2 wires- Black, Red/with Green stripe.

The cable coming from the motor side has 8 wires- Black, Red (heavier gauge), Tan, Purple, Grey, Yellow/with Black stripe, Yellow/with Red stripe, Black/with Yellow stripe.

I have a generic keyswitch with 7 tabs- I, S, A, M, B, M, C. Where do the wires go?

Re: keyswitch wiring help needed

I wanted to say thank you to jjacobs007 for his help. I don't know where he digs up this information but I am glad he can, ..thanks again.
Just got back home and starting to work on the boat.
Electrical work can be really annoying sometimes. Just when I think I have my head wrapped around the electricals, something always pops up to make me re-question things again, especially when previous owners modify or fix systems, and cutting all the plugs off the harness? and then deciding that diagrams and common standards are not needed to be followed or required by them.

A couple more questions. I am assuming the original key-switch had 6 poles, but the one I have (unhooked) has 7 poles- I, S, A, M, B, M, C.
Can I use the 7 pole switch, and if so, which pole is not used, is there a disadvantage to not having the 6 pole key-switch?
I do not have a Red/Purple wire, I have a PURPLE only, plus I have a RED only wire both are coming from the harness -motor side . Any idea where these go?
I do not seem to be able to find a neutral safety switch, not in dash or merc side control, where is the most likely places in the system to find it, could it be mounted on the o/b motor?

Re: keyswitch wiring help needed

You have a generic dual purpose switch. In other words it can be used on a magneto ignition as well as a battery ignition system (such as an I/O). Your engine has a magneto system. You would not use the "I" terminal. C = choke, M (both of them) = magneto, S = solenoid (starter), A = Accessories (powers the console gauges), B = battery (+12 volts from the engine harness)
