First of all, I'd like to thank everyone that has been giving this boat "newbie" good advice and info!

Now, I just ordered a 4-stroke, 6HP Nissan for my kicker motor. I'm being told I need a special "off shore" kicker bracket that can hold up to the weight and torque of a 4-stroke...It ways 55 pounds and it's only a 6HP!!!! I still need this $210 bracket???

Can't I just weld/bolt a plate on the back?

My boat is a 17' aluminum duck boat.

THANKS for any help!

Re: Kicker bracket

Depending on the design of your transom you may be able to clamp and bolt it directly on there.
Garelick makes a sturdy bolt on fixed bracket that sells for under $100.00. It's rated for 15 HP and would handle that motor, the part number is 756995.
