Hi Everyone!
I have a 1988 SportCraft 22Ft cabin Boat, it has the 3.7l closed cooling motor that runs amazing. However, I know these engines have there issues and wanted to put my 18hp evinrude on it as a kicker. Does anyone recommend a certain mount to purchase? I have checked Amazon and Ebay and am seeing a few that range from $60-$80 that would support up to 20hp, I use this on Lake Michigan for Salmon fishing so I want to make sure I get this kicker installed this spring in case I run into any issues. Any input is appreciated! Thank you!

I have found that those 80 buck kicker mounting brackets aren't able to secure a 15 or 20 hp motor securely enough for my liking. The mounting of the kicker has everything to do with the shaft length and the weight of the kicker. As well as where the prop will be in the water in relation to the main prop and prop wash.Time to get your tape measure out.

Over 30 years ago I mounted my first kicker on a $49 mount. I used it on the boat twice and then took it off. It was replaced by a premium mount that cost $150. I am still using that mount to this day.

IBoats sells Garelick mounts. You will be happy with one of those. They run about $280.

Yea....that kicker mount would not be a good place to go cheap.....hate to see that 18hp fall off, in case you didn't realize they don't float not even for one second!!
