Can I run my 40hp merc oil injection and 6hp merc 4 stroke from the same internal gas tank?
If so what do I need to do and were can I purchase the parts.

Thanks

Re: Kicker Motor

You can, but it's not a good idea, generally. It's always safer to use a separate, portable tank for your kicker. That way, if you have a fuel contamination problem in your onboard tank, you can still run the kicker. It's a more common reason for an engine quitting on the water than you'd think.

Your 4hp will run a long, long time, even on a 3.5 gal tank.

Not to hijack your thread, but I cannot find what a "kicker motor" is for. Seems to be trolling related, but isn't that what a trolling motor is for?

"Kicker" - small outboard. You would not be using both motors at the same time. Do they have the same fitting at the motor? If so, there is no reason why the kicker won't run from the boats fuel supply. I am assuming of course, the 40 hp is also a 4 stroke...

You can run both from the big tank and still be safe about it. My father runs both from the big tank but always carries a 3 gallon tank with a separate hose/primer bulb/connector. He can hook either motor to it if he needs to and be running in less than a minute.
