96 2352 with the full width swim step. The step is braced more than most Bayliners. Seems pretty stout. Can you mount a bracket to hold your kicker. Maybe I should re enforce the swim platform to prevent it from flexing.

I plan to slow troll for salmon with an 80+ lbs kickers.

well i tell you what..i have a 2000 2352 with a full swim platform.. if that sucker can hold me and my friend.. 500 plus pounds i think a 80lb kicker would be fine.. but i dont know if mounting one back there is even a option. That would be a real pain in the butt. If you do come up with something lemme know what you did.. Cause i looked at mine for hours trying to figure out what to do there. Good luck man.

I was looking at one of those tiller extensions. Also, I've seen people mount an eye on the kicker shift arm. They're using some kind of boat hook to shift in and out of gear.

Starting would be the pain. Getting an electric start kicker would help some. I like the pricing and weight of the Tohatsu motors.

On another matter, how do you like your 2000? I haven't got my (new to me) 96 in the water yet.

Ya know i dont know yet...lol i bought mine in the fall of 2010. i got it in southern virginia i brought it home and had to winterize it and its been sitting in my drive way teasing me!!! I live in western Pa and we dont get warm enough temps till may..lol sometimes lol If its not nice out usually its raining.lol Well im gonna tell you that i was to buy another motor for a trolling motor like 10 or 15 hp i would look at the yamaha's. They are the cats bum!! If you can find one look for a early 90s yamaha 9.9 hi thrust. I had one of those on my starcraft islander.. that was quietest motor and it always was dependable. Oh not to mention it would push my 4000 lb islander at like 10 mph full tilt. That thing was awesome. I shouldnt have sold that with my Islander.lol You could look to find maybe a junk trophy or something with a partial swim platform and change them out to accomdate the kicker..But if you want it for just trolling you probably dont need it.. What motor and out drive is on yours? A single prop alpha should be able to troll down to 1.5 to 2 mph no prob. You dont want that tiller crap youll spend more time trying to keep it straight in a high wind. Good luck though

With money tight, I'll have to give it a try. Even if it's a gal an hour, that's cheaper than kicker. (as often as I go)
