if a kill switch is engaged due to a short, would the motor turn over at all?
mine is turning over after overhauling practically all of the fuel intake system and immediately bogging down.
1 out of 10 times spraying gas in the carb will keep it on...the other times it turns off when the spray hits it. i imagine that it would not allow the engine to power up, but i've had weird things happen with shorts, so just want to rule it out.

Re: kill switch

The kill switch only affects spark. The engine will turn over fine, it just wounn't fire the plugs if you have a shorted kill circut.
If squirting fuel into the carbs will make it fire, I would look to the fuel delivery system.
You might want to post your model number so we know what engine you have.
