I have an 89' sears gamefisher 15hp that runs great, the problem is that i can't shut the engine off the killswitch and the stop button dont work. when both killswitches are plugged in i dont get any spark, but when i unplug both of them it starts right up but now i can't kill it. I tryed to wire a toggle switch to the wires and it still wont kill it. so what should i try now? any help would be great thanks!

Re: killswitch problem

From your diagram, it looks like a simple series circuit. remove the kill switch wires at the engine and put an OHM meter across the wires, if there is resistence the circuit is "shorted". Remove each switch one at a time and see if the "Short" goes away. If it goes away when one is removed, BAD SWITCH !! If the short does not go away after removing BOTH switches it is probably a shorted cable to the motor. If it's an enclosed 2-wire cable, you might have an internal short. This generally occurs where it enters the engine through a "gasket" of some sort. you can probably create your own cable from stock wire and terminal ends from an auto parts store. Hope it helps.
